Zwischenzitate:
Ich möchte einen Perspektivwechsel vorschlagen. Sinnvoller als ein Fokus auf vermindertes emotionales Wohlbefinden autistischer Menschen wäre die Entwicklung von Strategien zur Verbesserung ihrer Lebenszufriedenheit.
Aber wenn ein Kind schlauer ist, mehr Fähigkeiten hat, sich unabhängiger und weniger herausfordernd verhält, insgesamt besser inkludiert ist … ist es dann automatisch auch glücklicher?
Das persönliche Wohlbefinden hängt offenbar nicht von der Art und Ausprägung der Behinderung ab, sondern von der Wahrnehmung der Hilfen, die der betreffende Mensch erhält.
Es zeigte sich eine Korrelation zwischen Lebensqualität und regelmäßigen, als bedeutsam erlebten (Freizeit-)Aktivitäten. Ein Zusammenhang zwischen Lebensqualität und Intelligenzniveau, beruflicher Situation oder Wohnsituation wurde hingegen nicht gefunden.
Es ist wichtig, bei therapeutischen und pädagogischen Interventionen Wohlbefinden und Lebensqualität in den Mittelpunkt zu stellen.
Statt zu versuchen, negative Gefühle bei autistischen Menschen zu verhindern, sollten wir Strategien entwickeln, positive Gefühle zu fördern und zu stärken.
Positive Emotionen scheinen die Resilienz zu verbessern – so wird der betreffende Mensch weniger stressanfällig.
„Kennst du einen autistischen Menschen, kennst Du einen autistischen Menschen.“
Daher muss jede Strategie oder Maßnahme zur Verbesserung des Wohlbefindens an die individuellen Bedürfnisse angepasst und personalisiert werden.
Das Akronym H.A.P.P.Y. steht für: Happiness in Autism Personal Project for Young people (Glück im Autismus-Projekt für junge Menschen).
